{"id":273,"date":"2014-11-23T16:54:39","date_gmt":"2014-11-23T16:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/?p=273"},"modified":"2015-06-19T20:04:10","modified_gmt":"2015-06-19T20:04:10","slug":"palazzo-reale-turin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/piedmont\/turin-city\/what-to-see-in-turin\/palazzo-reale-turin\/","title":{"rendered":"Palazzo reale: the residence of Savoia Family in Turin"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"text\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-263\" title=\"Palazzo Reale - Turin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/wp_ms\/turin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/Palazzo_Reale.jpg\" alt=\"Palazzo Reale - Turin\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/piedmont\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/Palazzo_Reale.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/piedmont\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/Palazzo_Reale-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/piedmont\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/Palazzo_Reale-700x525.jpg 700w, http:\/\/www.dearitaly.com\/piedmont\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/11\/Palazzo_Reale-332x249.jpg 332w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Official residence of the Savoia family until 1865, it was transformed by Ascanio Vitozzi (1584) for Carlo Emanuele I and later it was expanded and renovated with an uninterrupted series of actions made by the most important architects and artists working in Turin in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The atrium leads to the first floor through the staircase, here there are the entertainment rooms richly decorated with carved ceilings, stucco, gildings and frescoes.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The most fascinating rooms are the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>Salone degli Svizzeri<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">, modernized by Pelagio Palagi (1835-40), the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>Sala del Trono<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">, the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>Sala del Caff\u00e8<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">, the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>Alcova<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"> of Carlo Emanuele II, the nineteenth-century <em>Sala da Ballo<\/em>, one of the most magnificent room of the building and finally the sumptuous <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>Scala delle Forbici<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"> by Filippo Juvarra (1720).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The staircase leads to the second floor and to the wedding flats of the Prince of Piedmont and the Dukes of Aosta: 30 rooms, evacuated and sealed in 1946, when the monarchy fallen, and reopened to the public in 2007.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In the basement of the palace you can see the spectacular kitchen and the huge wine vaults, called <em>cantinoni<\/em>.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: ArialMT, sans-serif;color: #000000\">From the courtyard with its arcades you can go to the garden which is enclosed by the seventeenth-century fortifications.
